Plastic has become embedded in our lives in ways that we rarely notice, so mundane that we interact with it constantly without a second thought. This work intertwines the use of plastic and humanity’s state, showcasing the dangers of our present and future. In this work, two instances of plastic have been layered; one of a wall of black tires, placed on the side of a busy road, towering over lush greenery and the other a burnt car, remnants of melted plastic and glass, looking over a city like an omen of what is to come. Both are products of humanity’s mistakes and misuses, and when physically put together illustrate the truth of our “plastic world”. The act of taking apart and reconfiguring a photo transforms the connotations of that photo, and gives it a depth that it could not achieve on its own. Many fail to comprehend the extent of the damage we have caused, choosing to see it as black and white, but actually, there is much more colour and complicities of this reality.
